PUBLIC OPINIONS is non-partisan and is home to a range of policy ideas and public Opinions. PUBLIC OPINIONS was founded by a Youthful Luzindana Adam Buyinza (LAB) in 2004 while at Makerere University.
It started as a small voluntary and Civic Organization seeking opinions of University students on topical issues of National and world concern. It later on became a mass student’s organization advocating for
- democratic governance,
- rule of law and constitutionalism,
- respect of the views of the masses,
- human rights,
- Justice
- law and Order,
- development,
- peace and security,
- gender mainstreaming
and it sustainably participated in political intelligence services among others,
- candidate research,
- opposition research,
- campaign disclosure Research,
- Issues Research,
- Political appointment analysis,
- community policing,
- opinions Seeking and analysis, etc.
The organization embarked on election monitoring, observation, analysis, civic education not only in universities but its efforts were tasted in different parts of Uganda involving largely the youths, women and local leadership.
The organization to date is involved in seeking views and opinions of the masses, analyzes and disseminates them first to the authorities and later the general public.
The public has many grievances which are not known by the leadership, funders and policy makers; we work therefore to bridge the gap, to bring about awareness, act as a complaint recipient office principally in vulnerable communities. And for us to be much more effective with our work, we are working on modalities in which our work can better be utilized by
- the policy makers,
- Multinational agencies,
- Governments,
- funders,
- civic organizations,
- civil society organizations,
- researchers,
- academias,and
- the general public.
We believe if we effectively collaborate and build a better working relationship with key stakeholders, there will be no doubt that our mission and vision will be attained.
To date, our target is to become a Global agency giving voice to publics around the world on issues of global concern because the world is becoming progressively more integrated, a globalised village and problems have become increasingly global and similar, pointing to a greater need for understanding between nations and for expounding global customs.
With the rapidly changing contemporary world and with globalization taking its course, Public Opinions has come to play a greater role in the Global policy process. We seek to reveal the values and views of publics in specific nations around the world as well as global patterns of world public opinions.
As a public Opinions seeking agency, we publish our work and disseminate it to the Authorities and the general public in form of a blog and monthly magazine entitled “Public Voice.”
This thus calls for support from the concerned people.
